Blue Monochromatic Christmas Card

Hello Crafty Friends,

Do you ever make a card, mixed media project, art journaling page, scrapbook layout or any other crafty project that seem to just exceed your expectations?

I must admit that is how I felt when I stood back and admired my blue Monochromatic Christmas card that I am entering into Merry Monday Christmas Challenge and the LAST Mojo Monday sketch challenge. (I am so sad to hear that Mojo Monday is closing it's site but I understand that Julie must do what's right for her and her family. I wish her nothing but the best.)

I wanted to walk you through how to make this card. This quick card can be done easily in 20 minutes. Building up the background is the longest part! Check the bottom of the post to see the completed card!

First take a piece of white card stack, grab your distress inks and blending tool(s). I initially used Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire. I felt that the Tumbled Glass was a little to bright for what I was going and decided to go over it with Weathered Wood.

Next I took a spray bottle with some water to emulate big puffy snowflakes falling in my winer sky.

I cut another piece of white card stock using rectangle die by Lawn Fawn. I used the exact same colors of Distress Inks making sure it lined up with the already existing colors. I decided not to use water spray on this piece. By doing this and edging the piece in Chipped Sapphire, it made the piece stand out more.

Monochromatic Blue Christmas Presents

I used the present image from Tim Holtz: Blueprint Assortment Stamp Set and colored it in with Copic Markers. The sentiment is from a Recollections Stamp Set that I'm calling "Sassy Sentiments." Unfortunately, Michael's doesn't name their sets on their packaging. So I named, lol! >_<  It was a seasonal item a few years back.

I used 4 strips of patterned paper from the a Retired DCWV Matstack. Then it was just a matter of gluing all the elements together!
